—Cursor MCP server

The Cursor MCP server that submits your startup to directories.

Add it once, then ask the agent. It fills directory forms in your own browser from your product profile and a tested playbook, and checks every backlink went live.

—Definition

What is LaunchDistro for Cursor?

LaunchDistro is an MCP server for Cursor, Claude, Codex and VS Code that submits your startup to directories. The agent fills each form in your own browser from a tested playbook, stops for sign-ins and CAPTCHAs, and LaunchDistro checks each backlink on the live page. Nothing to install: the same mcp.json entry works in the Cursor editor and the Cursor CLI.

—Why founders use it

Your launch, from the Cursor chat you already have open.

The agent writes the profile

From your README and landing page.

Ask Cursor to write your product profile from the repo you have open. It saves it with save_product_profile, and every submission uses it, so your name, tagline and links match on every directory.

Playbooks, not guesses

Each one tested on a real submission.

Before it touches a form, the agent reads that directory's playbook: what the form asks, what the free plan really gives, the traps and where to stop. When a directory wants a badge, it can add it to your footer and show you the diff.

A browser you can watch

Your browser, your accounts.

The forms fill in your own browser, signed in as you. When a site wants a sign-in, an emailed code, a CAPTCHA or a fee, the agent stops and tells you. Do it, say so, and it carries on.

—How it runs

How a launch runs in Cursor.

Add the server, ask the agent, watch the forms fill.

Add the server

One entry in mcp.json

Paste the entry into ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the token from your dashboard. Nothing to install.

~/.cursor/mcp.jsonHTTP
"launchdistro": {
"url": "https://launchdistro.com/api/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <your-token>" }
}

Ask the agent

In any Cursor chat

Say what you want. The agent picks directories that fit your product and shows you the plan, with a reason for each, before anything is submitted.

“Submit my product to 5 directories
that fit it, DR 50 or higher.”

Watch it submit

Then the live check

The agent opens each directory in your browser and fills the form. It stops for sign-ins and fees, records the confirmation, then checks the live page for your link.

—Setup details

What to know about Cursor and MCP.

The details that decide whether the server connects, in one place.

  • Global or per project

    ~/.cursor/mcp.json loads in every project; .cursor/mcp.json in a repo loads only there. Cursor merges the two, and the project file wins when both name the same server. Keep the token in the global file. After editing either, run Developer: Reload Window.
  • From Settings

    Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP, then New MCP Server opens mcp.json. Paste the entry above. The same Settings page then shows whether the server connected and which tools it offers.
  • The Cursor CLI

    The Cursor CLI reads the same mcp.json, so a server added in the editor works in the terminal agent too.
  • Your token

    Each AI app gets its own token, made on the dashboard and shown once. It stands in for <your-token> in the entry. Revoke one and the others keep working.

Cursor MCP questions, answered

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets Cursor's agent call tools outside the editor. An MCP server offers those tools; LaunchDistro's runs at launchdistro.com, so Cursor only needs its URL. It gives the agent tools to pick directories for your product, read each one's playbook and check the links went live.

Your next 10 directory submissions are free.

Add it to Claude or Cursor, describe your product once, and watch the first form fill itself.
